7.1.3. Generator

General information
The generator – a source of power supply of the car. At the working engine it provides with the electric power all units and charges the storage battery. The powerful three-phase synchronous generator is power power plant of your car. Already in an idling mode it provides power supply of all consumers. In modern cars the generator is capable to develop capacity to 2 kW. The generator is put in action by a maple belt.
The three-phase generator develops a three-phase alternating current. As the accumulator should be recharged by a direct current, by means of powerful diodes there is a transformation of an alternating current to the constant.
Rectifiers also prevent a battery discharge when parking. The generator practically does not demand service. It is independently possible to replace generator brushes after run of 100 000 km. In case of serious malfunction hand over the generator in repair.
